Hour-glass figure or 36-24-36, Is the best figure for females, teaches a Class 12 CBSE Textbook

According to the textbook titled 'Health And Physical Education',  the best 'size' for a female is 36-24-36. The book goes on to reason that Miss World and Miss University beauty pageants also take this body shape into consideration while judging the contestants. The book, though taught to CBSE students of Class 12, is not brought out by NCERT.

The textbook has done its bit to promote fat-shaming prevalent among teenagers and spread the notion that weightloss is matter of willpower. Weight is the most common reason students, particularly teenagers, are bullied in school.

The book also cares to bother why 'females are not able to run properly' because 'bones of hips of females are wider' and 'knees are slightly apart.'

A picture of the book shared by one twitter user Anuj Khurana has raised questions on the government affiliated board of education over its superficial definitions of 'best' body figure.

CBSE has been in the news recently when a class 4 textbook  for environment studies titled 'Our Green World' asked them to suffocate a cat as part of an experiment to teach students the importance of oxygen for survival.

"You can do an experiment” the book read and asked children to put small kittens in two wooden boxes each and cover with lids, one with holes and one without. The obvious outcome of the experiment is that “the kitten inside the box without holes has died”.

In another incident, a class 12th Sociology book cited 'ugliness' and physical disability of a girl as reasons behind the dowry issue prevalent in the country.
