The Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) in Gujarat received donations over four times than that of all the other five national parties combined between 2011-12 and 2015-16, revealed a report compiled by Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR).
The five-year report by the election watchdog details that BJP got donations worth Rs 80.45 crore from 2186 donations followed by Congress which received Rs 14.09 crore from 53 donations.
Donations to the BJP from one state, Gujarat, were higher than those the party received from any other state, accounting for one-tenth of its nationwide total of Rs 801.675 crore.
Of the Rs 97.55 received by all parties from Gujarat, the BJP’s share was 82%, or 4.7 times the amount received by the other five national parties.

The sector-wise analysis of the donations further shows that 88.69% (Rs 71.35 cr), a large chunk of BJP's donations, came from corporates/business houses of Gujarat. While theCongress received Rs 13.57 cr or 96.31% of its total donations from corporates.
However, Rs, 0.022 cr of donation received by BJP was unannounced.
Of the donations received by the six parties, nearly a fifth — 19%, or Rs 18.66 crore, through 908 donations — are without PAN details.
Section 29C of the Representation of People Act, 1952 states that political parties need to submit details of contribution received in excess of Rs 20,000 from any person or a company to the ECI annually in order to claim tax emeption.

The report has taken into consideration six national parties for the study, namely- BJP, BSP, CPI, CPM, INC and NCP.
The ADR sourced its report from the contribution statements submitted by the political parties to the Election Commission of India.
