Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Thursday said the government will take revenge from those people who damaged public properties during protests against Citizenship Amendment Act in different parts of the state.
"They have been captured in video and CCTV footage. We will take 'badla' (revenge) from them," he said.
The UP CM said those involved in the violence have been identified through CCTV. He said the authorities will sieze their properties and compensate for the damage to public property.
"There was violence in Lucknow and Sambhal and we will deal with it strictly. All properties of those involved in damaging public assets will be seized and auctioned to compensate for the losses," he said.
"There is no place for violence in a democracy. In the name of opposing the CAA, the Congress, SP and Left parties have pushed the entire country to fire," he said.
Violent protests erupted in different parts of Uttar Pradesh. Several vehicles were torched in Lucknow and Sambhal.
