West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee, one of the vocal critics of the BJP-led government at the Centre, on Monday said she won't stop her protests against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) till the law is withdrawn.

Addressing a gathering in Purulia, Banerjee urged everyone to "join hands and isolate BJP everywhere."

"BJP is planning to take away the citizenship of legal citizens. I would appeal to everybody to join hands against the BJP and isolate them everywhere," Banerjee said before the commencement of her 5-km-long protest march in Purulia town.

She lambasted the saffron party for labelling even "peaceful protesters as anti-nationals."

"Just ensure your names are there in the voters' list. The rest will be taken care of by me," she said, adding, "no one will have to leave the country."

Referring to the BJP losing the assembly polls in Jharkhand, Banerjee said: "This party has now contracted to a few states where they are in power like Uttar Pradesh and Karnataka. That time is not far when people will have to use binoculars to find BJP," she said.

Banerjee has been leading marches and conducting rallies against the newly amended law almost every day in West Bengal.

The BJP, which breached the TMC citadel in 2019 Lok Sabha elections, is hoping to challenge Banerjee in the 2021 assembly elections.

Protests against the CAA and NRC have swept India, with at least 20 people losing their lives in the police crackdown on demonstrations across the country.
