06:08 hrs IST: Good morning everyone and welcome to Outlook's live coverage of the second Test match between New Zealand and India at the Hagley Oval. Earlier, Kane Williamson won the toss and elected to bowl first. India have also left out injured Ishant Sharma and Ravichandran Ashwin to include Umesh Yadav and Ravindra Jadeja. Meanwhile, the hosts have included pacer Neil Wagner in place of Ajaz Patel.

Preview -

In the first Test, Kane Williamson's side defeated the visitors with more than one full day and a half to spare, which showed that India's batting order is not invincible, as thought so before.

After the match, Ravi Shastri admitted, "A shake up like this is good as it opens your mindset. When you are on the road all the time and have not tasted defeat, it can close your mindset."

In the second Test, Indian batsmen will face a tough examination on a green top at the Hagley Oval, where the Kiwis have won all but one Test match.

Prithvi Shaw and Mayank Agarwal will have a job at hand with new dad Neil Wagner back in the team to bolster the New Zealand pace attack. Meanwhile, the likes of Ajinkya Rahane, Hanuma Vihari and Cheteshwar Pujara will have to show some intent against the New Zealand bowlers. Virat Kohli doesn't have a century in 20 international innings.

Also, Ravichandran Ashwin could lose his spot to Ravindra Jadeja because the latter can make a handsome contribution with the bat. Mohammed Shami and Jasprit Bumrah will have to improve on their underwhelming show at the Basin Reserve.

Wagner's return means Kyle Jamieson could be benched. Jamieson won the Man of the Match award on his Test debut. Senior pacer Trent Boult also revealed that it would be tough for Williamson to decide between Jamieson and spinner Ajaz Patel. Only once in five Tests at the Hagley Oval, the Kiwis went without a spinner and lost that game against the Australians.

Kane Williamson and Tom Blundell have to lead the side's batting order. Ross Taylor, of course, will always be the man to watch.
