The Diamond League meet in Lausanne saw a mix of triumph and defeat for Olympic champions returning to competition after the Paris Games. Emmanuel Wanyonyi came agonizingly close to breaking David Rudisha's 800m world record but ultimately fell short. However, several Olympic champions enjoyed success on the night. Botswana's Letsile Tebogo was in scintillating form, blazing to a 19.64sec victory in the 200m. Greece's Miltiadis Tentoglou left it late to win the long jump with a leap of 8.06m, while Ukraine's Yaroslava Mahuchikh claimed the women's high jump title with a clearance of 1.99m. Norway's Jakob Ingebrigtsen found redemption by beating Hocker in the 1500m. But the biggest upset of the night came in the men's 110m hurdles, where Olympic champion and three-time world gold medallist Grant Holloway was edged into second place by Jamaica's Rasheed Broadbell
