Avika Gor talks about the recent controversy on ‘The Kerala Story’. She feels that the film made her realise what the reality is and how much impact it has created on our country.
Avika Gor who would be seen in ‘1920: Horrors Of The Heart’ and also who is balancing her career in the South is a person with a strong viewpoint. She from childhood has been encouraged to support good causes. Even her debut show ‘Balika Vadhu’ made a statement raising the issue against child marriage. She is an avid watcher of films. She is well informed about 'The Kerala Story' controversy, and therefore, doesn’t shy away from commenting on it.
She says, “I watched ‘The Kerala Story’ and it made me realise what the reality is and how much impact it has created on our country. This thing through entertainment is when people like me see, because we are not there as we don’t know the reality and we are not facing all of them in our everyday lives but when we see all this, we get a reality check about what all is happening in our country. I am thankful to filmmakers and producers for daring to make something like this. There are many people who try to ban it and have the negatives also but there are producers and filmmakers who are trying to let people know what all is happening and take the initiative.”
On being asked if she would like to do a hard-hitting film like ‘The Kerala Story’, she says, “I'm an actor and I crave to do interesting work as an artist. To be part of a film which has a strong message or something unique to say through the medium of entertainment would surely attract me. I surely feel our cinema has grown considerably with a wide variety of subjects being explored based on true incidents. I have seen ‘Talvar’, ‘The Kashmir Files’ and now ‘The Kerala Story’ and all are so unique in their content and communication. I would begin for any role which will drive me to give my best as an actor,” she ends.
