Abhimanyu Dasani made his Hindi film debut with Vasan Bala's 'Mard Ko Dard Nahi Hota' in 2019. The movie also starred Radhika Madan and Gulshan Devaiah. It was a different genre and a challenging role for Abhimanyu but he shone in this refreshing tale. The concept was unique and it got critical acclaim in festivals like Toronto International Film Festival and MAMI Film Festival. It is the story of Surya (Abhimanyu Dassani) who was born with a rare condition of congenital insensitivity to pain.
In 2022, during an AMA session on Instagram, Radhika was asked by a fan if there are any plans for the sequel of 'Mard Ko Dard Nahi Hota'. She shared a BTS video from one of her rehearsal sessions and wrote “Apne haath me sirf nunchucks hai baaki sab inke haath 🙏 @vasanbala.”
Well, during a recent conversation with Abhimanyu when we asked him if the sequel is on cards, he replied, ''Where are these cards? Bring me these cards. I want these cards'' (he laughed) and added, ''I mean I'm ready. I am getting my body back in shape and I guess whenever Vasan sir is ready, when he feels the fire in his belly he will write something for us. The day he does, I just want to keep my body ready so that I can move like when I was 27 years old.''
Abhimanyu also expressed his desire to play an athlete if he gets an opportunity. ''I have the utmost respect for athletes. The kind of dedication, discipline and sacrifice that is required to be in that field is arguably the highest or the most. So, doing something to give them that respect and also to inspire the youth to pick up a sport or get into fitness would be something I would love to do.''
''But I love watching rom-coms. So, doing another film like Meenakshi Sundareshwar would be really nice. It's enjoyable, and it gives love and hope to people watching it. I would also love to play a gangster. I know the culture doesn't exist anymore and there are more cyber crimes and terrorism rather than organised crime. But I think those stories wherever I watch whether it's Indian history or Hollywood films and shows made, I think it's amazing. Since I love to watch it, I would love to be able to play a certain role of that stature,'' he added.
