The nephew of Jaish-e-Muhammad chief Maulana Masood Azhar was among the militants killed by the security forces in a gunbattle in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Monday, reported Hindustan Times quoting a local news agency GNS.
“Local news agency GNS said the killed militant was Jaish’s divisional commander Talha Rasheed and that the spokesperson of the terrorist group confirmed his identity to them.”
A civilian suffered injuries in the crossfire Security forces launched a cordon-and-search operation in the Kandi belt following information about the presence of some militants.
The search operation led to a gunbattle after the militants fired at the security forces, they said.
"The firing has stopped and the search operation is continuing," an Army official said.
