'Myanmar Does Not Fear International Scrutiny, Committed To Sustainable Solution': Suu Kyi On Rohingya Crisis

Key points from her State Of The Union Address.

Delivering her State of the Union Address to the citizens of her country, Myanmar State Counsellor Aung San Suu Kyi has said that Myanmar does not fear international scrutiny on the Rohingya crisis but it is committed to sustainable solution in Rakhine state.

Her State of the Union Address commenced from 10 a.m. local time (9 a.m. IST) at the Myanmar International Convention Centre-II (MICC-II) amid tight security and is attended by the top brass of the Government of Myanmar.

This is a much awaited speech of her the Rohingyan crisis has dominated headlines in the South Asian region over the last nearly three weeks.

'Myanmar is a complex nation. People expect us to overcome all the challenges in shortest time possible.'

'Peace and stability was something we had to achieve after nearly 70 yrs of internal conflict.'

'We condemn all human rights violations, we are committed to peace and rule of law.'

'Myanmar does not fear international scrutiny,committed to sustainable solution in Rakhine state'

'Myanmar feels deeply for suffering of all groups in Rakhine,concerned to hear about Muslims fleeing to Bangladesh'

'We would like to find out why this exodus is happening, would like to talk to the people who have fled.'

'Government has been making every effort to restore peace and stability and to bring harmony in Rakhine communities.'

'Many Muslim villagers have remained, not all have fled.Invite members of the international community to visit.'

'There have been allegations and counter allegations, will listen to all, culprits will be punished irrespective of race or religion.'

'We had made a central committee for implementing rule of law & development in Rakhine'.
