Fatal Service Lift Accident In Noida Extension Claims Four More Lives, Death Toll Rises To Eight

In a tragic turn of events, the aftermath of a service lift crash at an under-construction society in Noida Extension continues to unfold. Four additional workers, who had been hospitalized following the incident, tragically lost their lives on Saturday, bringing the total death toll to eight.

The harrowing incident occurred when a service lift, carrying nine workers, plummeted from the 14th floor of an under-construction tower at the Amrapali Dream Valley project site in Noida Extension, also known as Greater Noida (West), during the early hours of Friday morning.

This long-pending project is currently under the supervision of the state-run NBCC. District Magistrate Manish Verma conveyed the somber news, stating, "Four workers had succumbed to their injuries on the fateful Friday, with five others initially admitted to the district hospital in critical condition. Unfortunately, four of them have now also lost their battle for survival, while one worker continues to receive medical treatment."

In response to this tragic incident, local authorities have taken swift action. An FIR has been registered at the Bisrakh Police Station, with nine individuals facing charges of negligence and culpable homicide, among other offenses, in connection with the case, as reported by the police. Simultaneously, the district administration and the Greater Noida Authority have initiated their investigations to shed light on the circumstances surrounding this unfortunate episode.
