India sent a communication to Pakistan on Thursday, three days after it offered New Delhi consular access to Kulbhushan Jadhav on Friday.
India has asked Pakistan to provide "unimpeded" consular access to Kulbhushan Jadhav in an environment free from the "fear of intimidation" and reprisal in the backdrop of the judgment by the International Court of Justice in his case, official sources said on Friday.
India sent a communication to Pakistan on Thursday, three days after it offered New Delhi consular access to Jadhav on Friday.
Pakistan's response in now awaited to our communication, the sources said. On Thursday, Pakistan’s Foreign Office had said that Jadhav will be granted consular access.
The move came two weeks after the International Court of Justice (ICJ) ordered Pakistan on July 17 to undertake an "effective review and reconsideration" of the conviction and sentence of Jadhav and also to grant consular access to India without further delay.
Jadhav, 49, a retired Indian Navy officer, was sentenced to death by a Pakistani military court on charges of "espionage and terrorism" in April 2017 following which India had moved the ICJ, seeking a stay on his death sentence and further remedies.
