An Armyman was killed, while four others including a captain were injured after Army foiled Pakistan's BAT attack at Machil sector along Line of Control (LoC) in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district on Saturday. Reportedly, one Pakistani intruder was also killed in the gunfight.

Jammu Kashmir: The gunfight is the second in Kupwara within days in the district.
As per PTI report, the condition of one of the injured soldiers was stated to be “critical”.
The report quoting sources said, "Indian Army foils attack by Pakistan's Border Action Team (BAT) in Kamakari sector of Kupwara in Jammu and Kashmir."
The report also said, “one Pakistani intruder has been killed.”
BATs or Border Action Teams include commandos from the Pakistan Army and terrorists, who are known for infiltration along the LoC.
The gunfight is the second in Kupwara within days in the district. The encounter is underway in the district's Kumkadi area.
"Some exchange of fire took place near the Kumkadi post in Trehgam sector of the north Kashmir district," an official told PTI.
It said two intruders managed to return to Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) amid the intense gunfight that lasted for hours. It also said the group of three intruders hurled a grenade and opened fire on a forward post near the Kumkadi post in Trehgam sector of the north Kashmir district.
Earlier, the security forces had launched the anti-terrorist operation in the Kumkadi area of Kupwara following information about possible militant movements.
The security forces established contact with the hiding militants on Saturday, leading to an encounter.
Earlier on July 24, the security forces also neutralised an unidentified terrorist in an overnight gunfight with terrorists in Kupwara's Lolab area. A soldier was also killed in the gunfight.
Reportedly, a group of around 40 to 50 Pakistani terrorists are hiding in the upper reaches of the hilly districts of Jammu and Kashmir, prompting security forces to launch massive counter-terror operations in these areas to nab them, India Today reported.
