The Supreme Court has held that confessions before investigating officers by those accused in drugs cases under the narcotics law can’t be used to convict them. It said any officer who has the authority to “extract” confessions is a police officer under the narcotics law. The ruling could have a bearing on the drugs case against Rhea Chakraborty.
