I'd see a wistful contradiction in him. When he'd speak to me, he'd often speak of being "lonely, sensitive and misunderstood". This changed to "arrogant, self made, and wilful" when he was meeting others.
4th April 2004 was the birth centenary of perhaps the greatest singer India has ever seen. He inhabited this earth for a mere 42 years, but he left behind an immortal legacy not just limited to his inimitable songs.
