Noor Mohammed Tantrey is in police custody. He is a member of the Jaish-e-Mohammed. He is the Tom Thumb of Kashmir militancy. Standing 4' something tall, he attracts attention in any crowd. That's why he was so valuable to the Jaish outfit. He was their bagman who collected funds from hawala agents. Even total strangers acting as hawala couriers easily spotted him and passed on the money.

After interrogation, the police discovered that Tantrey had even visited the BJP central party office several times. When the BJP leaders got wind of it, they were alarmed. Were terrorists planning a strike on the BJP office? Silly leaders! Don't they realise that ISI-sponsored terrorists have the strongest vested interest in preserving the BJP? Never in their wildest dreams could ISI agents hope to destabilise India as effectively as Venkaiah Naidu and his gang. If terrorists wanted to reconnoitre the BJP party office, Tantrey would be the last person to send. He is simply too conspicuous.

Some critics who maliciously suggest that Tantrey wanted to join the BJP may be safely ignored. The simplest explanation could be that Tantrey went to the BJP office in pursuance of his professional activities. He could even be clinching a hawala deal with a client there. Surely, this is not too far-fetched. After all, several top BJP leaders received hawala money from the same conduits that funded Kashmir militants in the Jain Hawala case.

One of the obscure militants who received hawala money in that case via Moolchand Shah was Salahuddin. He rose to occupy his current post as leader of the Hizbul Mujahideen. One of the politicians whose name figured in the diary that police seized from the Jains, after Moolchand Shah led them to it, rose to occupy his current post as deputy prime minister. Is it not possible that some future deputy prime minister is lurking in the bjp office whom Tantrey went to meet?

In any event, have the police investigated why Tantrey went to the BJP office and who all did he meet during his several visits? Surely, this information is of vital importance for any investigation attempting to uncover a terrorist network. But the police are silent about this. Perhaps they have not even investigated this aspect. They are so zealously and single-mindedly pursuing the investigations of Mayawati and Amarmani Tripathi. Where is the time to probe the BJP, which has the power to transfer, suspend, promote and demote any police officer?
