Fatigue Factor

Brendon McCullum called it quits recently while being on the top of his game. So did Aussie Mitchell Johnson. Fatigue is catching up with cricketers. Can this be kept at bay? A demanding itinerary forces one to play round the year, leaving little time for the body to recover. A few month’s lay-off can do wonders. So, fitness apart, one has to look at two types of recovery. One is immediate; the other long term. Active and passive stretching exercises, swimming pool sessions, massage and sauna bath come under immediate recovery. Yoga sessions, meditation, playing leisure sport like golf, beach volley or surfing can freshen up both the mind and body. Dissipating stress hormones that cause mental fatigue along with regimented fitness training can prolong a career.
