Women's T20 World Cup 2024 Stats: The 2024 edition of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup is here with ten of the best teams competing to get hold of the trophy.
The 10 teams participating in the event are: India, Australia, England, Bangladesh, South Africa, New Zealand, West Indies, Sri Lanka, Pakistan and Scotland. The ten teams have been divided into two groups of five where every team will play the other four teams once. The top two from both groups will qualify for the semifinal. The winner of the two semifinals will then face off in the title contest.
The tournament began on October 3 and will go on till October 20 when the final is scheduled to be held in Dubai. The two semi-finals are on October 17 and 18.
The T20 spectacle has been going on since 2009 when the first edition of the women’s tournament took place in England. The hosts beat New Zealand in the final to win the maiden Women’s T20 World Cup. Since then, no women’s T20 World Cup final has been held without Australia being a part of it.
Australia are the most successful side in the history of the women’s T20 World Cup with six titles out of the eight tournaments that have been held so far. England and West Indies are the only two sides to lift the trophy. England lifted the trophy in the inaugural edition while West Indies won the title in 2016. As for India, their best finish was in 2020 when they lost the final to Australia at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.
